Reader comment on item: Debate over the civil war in Syria

M. Daniel Pipes, I don't know the name of the lady, I wish I knew to send her an email to commend her.

I do appreciate your efforts in recognizing the need to fight against islamism, but am surprise that you do take a different position when it comes to Syria.

Your absolute criticism and condemnation of president Assad is wrong. This is a matter or choice, as it always is, when it comes to politics. We aren't talking about a utopian Syria, but about the alternative to President Assad.

The problem in Syrian and everywhere else in Western and central Asia is two folds: 1) Islamism ,and 2) foreign interference, essentially anglo-americans who are there ESSENITALLY if not uniquely for material interest: the oil being on top of them. Failing to recognize this two main factors make all your comments and analysis questionable.

If your interest for peace in the region is honest and sincere, I would love to communicate and collaborate with you. If it's not, then I do not want to.
