Dr. Pipes:

Your (and other's) suggestions for identifying Islamists are, in short, extremely laborious. Laborious, to the point, of costing millions of dollars, taking a lot of time and effort; so laborious that if your suggestions were implemented it would, in effect, slow the immigration of Muslims to a trickle (hooray!!!) and would be viewed by your (and my) political enemies like the SPLC and elements in the Democrat and Republican parties as "racist."

Secondly, how do you come to the figure that only 10 to 15% of Muslims are "Islamists?"

I have accessed many studies that demonstrate that the percentage of Muslims, in America, Europe and the Middle East who, for example, oppose the First Amendment's clauses, are much higher than 15%. Are you suggesting that people who are hostile to the First Amendment are good candidates for U.S. citizenship?

Daniel Pipes replies:

Yes, my suggested approach would slow down immigration.

See the link for the 10-15% figure.

I do not see political views as the key to ferreting out Islamists.
