Playing 'Devil's Advocate' hereReader comment on item: Erdoğan to Me: Stay Out of Turkey Submitted by Philip (United Kingdom), Feb 23, 2017 at 03:59 I find this curious... I'm not for or against Erdogan. As far as I'm concerned whatever happens in Turkey is for the Turks themselves to sort out. However, I'm somewhat surprised that Mr Pipes should support a military coup against what I understand to be the legitimately elected President and government of Turkey. Why should he as a non-resident of Turkey, with no blood or family ties to that country, be backing an illegitimate military attempt to unseat that elected government? I find his position on this very strange to say the least. And what has his father's visit to the SU to do with this? As a frequent visitor to Turkey should he at least not show sufficient respect for the political institutions of that state, In Public at least, not to cause himself to be considered unwelcome by a government minister of the elected government of Turkey?
