Here comes another defender of democracy!! (Muslim defender of democracy in America, that is)Reader comment on item: John Esposito and Me Submitted by Prashant, Aug 7, 2018 at 23:13 Dear Dr Pipes, I have often written about the fact that a lot of Muslim people in the Western and other democracies do not get tired of fighting for even more democracy in their adopted lands but do not even pay lip service to the idea of removing doctrinal opposition to democracy in the Quran. They also do nothing to advance the cause of democracy in the lands controlled by Islam. Many names come to mind when I think of these people but today I will introduce a new name to this hall of shame. This illustrious servant of democracy is Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. I came to know about her through an article by CNN (ref below). Ms Tlaib is a practicing Muslim of the (so called) Palestinian origin and she is vehemently fighting for the cause of democracy in America. So much so that she was arrested a few years back for creating disturbance in a meeting of President Donald Trump. The CNN article reported that Ms Tlaib asked President Trump to "read the constitution". I do not know about President Trump but I have read the US constitution and as far as I can say every word of the constitution goes against what is written in the Quran against the kuffars and infidels. And I also do not see much democracy in Ms Tlaib's ancestral land either. What can I say? I just love hypocrisy.
