Muslim majorityReader comment on item: My Media Year Submitted by Robin Resnick (United States), Sep 12, 2002 at 09:36 I may be behind in my reading of your Quartlerly and I haven't finished Militant Islam Reaches America, but I haven't seen anything in depth by Dr.Pipes which would help me understand why the non-militant majority of Muslims have not been more vocal ineither condeming the militants or explaining (as Dr.Pipes does) the difference between militant Islam and mainstream Islam. The reluctance of moderate clerics and moderate American Muslim oganizations (are there any?) to speak out is upsetting to most peope I speak to and usually that silence is interpretted as an expression of solidarity with the militants. It is obvious why moderate Muslims in Arab or some Muslim countries don't speak out (i.e. fear), but what about the millions of Muslims living in America? Will you be posting a transcript of Dr. Pipes' conversation with Hanan Ashrawi?
