The First Islamic Missionary was Mufti Sadiq SahibReader comment on item: Al-Mughtaribun: American Laws and the Transformation of Muslim Life in the United States Submitted by Allison Knight (United States), Aug 29, 2005 at 00:17 The first Missionary of Islam to the US was an Ahmadi Muslim who was incarcerated on Ellis Island because he was a Muslim. He was not detained because of his belief in polygamy. Indeed, if polygamy was so heinious in the eyes of Americans, there would be no Mormons allowed--instead we see that they were given their own state...but it was okay for them, because they were Christian.Mufti Sadiq Sahib did not bring his wife with him to America, because the missionaries received very little pay. He couldn't afford to bring his wife. He never advocated polygamy. He advocated Islam. Islam does not recommend polygamy, at all. The Qur'an states that if you don't think you can treat more than one wife equally, you should just have one wife. Lord knows, most people have difficulty with just one spouse, so they don't want to multipy their difficulties. The first Missionary eventually lived in Chicago and converted many African Americans to Islam. Chicago now has one of the largest and most beautiful mosques (inaugerated 2004), belonging to Ahmadi Movement in Islam. The present Imam is an African American who studied Islam for 7 years in Rabwah, Pakistan. Mufti Sadiq Sahib's efforts have borne fruit and what a beautiful fruit it is! ... And my facts are correct.DP Reader comments (1) on this item
