Dear Dr Pipes, Your reader Charles Martel states that a lot of what we know as modern middle east was and is being usurped by Muslims by the force of sword and guns. I intentionally used the phrase 'is being' here because I have read the biography of Nadia Murad where she described the rapes and murders of Yazidi people by Muslims within the last 5 or 6 years. Indeed, Islam must go back from wherever it exists to wherever it came from and and it make its journey travelling in the minds of monks and not travelling with swords on horsebacks.
