A couple of thoughts

First, since Trump, I don't hear the kneejerk condemnations every time an Israeli builds an outhouse in Jerusalem.
Second, Trump's disengagement, while going too far, owes an awful lot to the sense that the Muslim countries are ungrateful, irremediable and violent backwaters which aren't worth a damn, much less American lives and aid.
