Heart of the matter

Mr. Pipes,

You are a great analyist of the Middle East problem, because you precisely define the issues.

In your last article I read, you defined the issue very well--Aim the War on Terror at Militant Islam.

It serves no useful purpose to aim the arrow generally at Arabs, Muslims or at the Palestinians. Instead, aim the arrow at and destroy the terrorists, the militant muslims, and their supporters.

Being from Denver, Colorado, I also followed the speeches of Hanan Ashrawi at Colorado College and at C.U., noting your rebuttal. And now I have read your response, which again goes to the heart of the matter. The speeches of Hanan Ashrawl were calculated and precisely timed. I have followed the middle east problem, as well as world events, for a lifetime, and the struggle of the Jews to find peace in their homeland. If it were not for the desire of the leadership of the Palestinian people to destroy Israel, there could be peace overnight there. And why do Arafat and Ashrawi want to destroy Israel and not achieve peace--it gives them power and money. That is what it always boils down to. What a couple of pathological liars.

Now, you will be surprised to learn that I love both the Jews and the Arabs. In one of my largest cases, I represented the Plaintiff, who happened to be a Jew, whose brother was a Colonel in the Israeli Air Force. At the same time I also represented a general in the Saudi Arabian Army with close connections with King Faud, as well as other Saudi Arabians. I became close friends with all of them. And I don't want any of my friends, or other innocent peope, hurt either in Israel or elsewhere in the Middle East.

Enough of that. I just wanted to thank you for your insight into the whole mess.
