Contraindications of Conservative Thought in Civilizationalist Arenas - Post Epidemic Review

Reader comment on item: Finding Europe's Hidden Conservatives

Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Jul 20, 2021 at 12:02

When this post was initially given its audience, even subliminally, there were/are reservations in the local arena and globally that Europe has achieved any sense of distance in the desires of leaving any vestiges of the past ultranationalist tendencies; one wonders why? More importantly, if not; why not?
Elsewhere in this forum, and in the background of other arenas of contemporary thought, negative connotations towards conservatism are myriad and pervasive, for one very serious reason; restraint of freedom in such societies that require rules for conduct in civil society. The spectrum of 'laws' of the most restrictive nature to the ultraviolent release of any restraint is on topic; who gets to make the rules?
Whether in a socialist environment or Romanesque 'republican' representation, control of the population (whether by edict or by consent of the governed) is presumed necessary for a civilizationalist approach to a nationalist governance; or anarchy subliminally enters in and the rule of law is ushered out. The is the battle seen today; and fifteen months later after the epidemic was introduced, the results are plain to see.
Now, one might further wonder, of those European nations that participated in the most recent G7 popularity review, does civilizationalism present a goal any of these participants are willing to be party to? It appears not after more than a year after this 2020 speculation: what remains to be seen?
Initially, confusion; since it is apparent they cannot come to grips with the inability to curb the ambitions of competing powers for possessions of empire in the Middle East. That, after all, is the ultimate prize, if they are willing to admit it. Even the CCP is drawn to that flame.
