Islamists don't have critics, just enemies

While it may be true that you have made a distinction between Islamism, a totalitarian ideology, and moderate Islam, you still have criticized Islam in some way. Islamists are, after all, Muslims, however twisted their interpretation may be. Islam does not take criticism lightly: blasphemy is a capital crime in Sharia, and blasphemy can be liberally defined. Your criticism may be nuanced, constructive and only partial, and your western conscience may be sincere and clear, but that doesn't mean that these good intentions will be reciprocated. An ideology born from the harsh necessity of controlling a vast empire is not very flexible or forgiving.
Once one becomes a critic of Islam, one becomes an enemy of Islam. One then enters a sort of take-no-prisoners battlefield where all's fair in love and war. That certainly includes slandering you, the enemy, in order to discredit you. If the language of human rights can be useful, then Islamophobia, or racism, is charged; the tactics used change with the times. Given a chance, when physically possible, if Islamists are strong enough, they'll use violence, unrestrained by any rules of engagement, until victory is achieved, and Islamic rule prevails.
Just stay strong, state your case, and don't give up. Thanks for fighting.
