Victory in Afghanistan - Failed State under the Taliban RegimeReader comment on item: Victory [in Afghanistan] Shifts the Muslim World Submitted by Robert (United States), Jan 22, 2022 at 15:13 Dear Dr. Daniel Pipes, Isn't it time to renew and update all your writings on Afghanistan, the Taliban, and Islamism? It appears to me that Historical Reality is Stranger than Fiction? Or is it merely more complex than our political theories are capable of forecasting or understanding? Let's begin with the question (and concept) of Victory in Afghanistan. Yes, the Taliban is back - but for how long? It appears that the return of the Taliban after 20 years is a Victory; however, Afghanistan is a failed state and no regime in the whole world is willing to recognize it - not Pakistan, nor Iran, not Russia, not China, non of its bordering surrounding states, and not the United Nations. Only you are in a position to reflect on complex history of Afghanistan, and anticipate the possibility of an internal struggle that will lead to a Loya Jirga (Grand Assembly) which may either dilute or weaken the Taliban? Or perhaps a Revolution or Civil War which will eliminate the Taliban Regime Islamic Emirate? I think you - Dr. Daniel Pipes - might inform your readers of Tribal and Clannish nature of Afghan Society, and whether these entities are will to submit to the Islamist subjugation? In other words, how strongly is Islamist Taliban embedded in Afghan culture and Afghan history? I recall that elected Islamist Egypt only lasted about a year. Merely a Victory in expelling the "foreign invaders" us (US); internally it must also subjugate all the other foreign Islamist "terrorist organizations" (ISIS, etc.), but also each and every other Afghan Tribe and Klan).
