Murders of non-Muslim boyfriends by Muslims in IndiaReader comment on item: "Honor Killings" of Muslim Males Submitted by Prashant (United States), May 27, 2022 at 08:21 Dear Dr Pipes, I will continue with my theme of judging Islam by secular and non-Muslim standards. I think the need is to challenge Islam every where it needs to be challenged and force it into the corner until it changes. Honor killing of women by their Muslim family members when they marry outside of Islam is a well recognized problem prevalent in Muslim societies. In the above article of yours you mention that Muslim societies have enlarged the scope of honor killings and have started to optionally kill the involved men. Muslims of India are taking the idea of killing the men involved with Muslim women even further. During the last two years at least three cases (cited below) have occurred in which non-Muslim boyfriends of three Muslim women were murdered after they refused to break their relationships with the women. We should not hide these murders under euphemisms like 'honor killing'. Islamic day-to-day practices are outdated and these practices are sustained by the combined force of illiterate clergy, selfish politicians, theocratic rulers, and an intelligentsia that simply does not exist in Islam. And, these practices are amply supported by the Islamic religious doctrine. Whether these murders happen in USA, or Israel, or Pakistan or India or where ever, the common link between them is Islam. For our world to be a happier place, Islam and Muslims must change. Muslim women must realize that they and the people whom they might love are at risk. Every one should try and force a change in Islam but the strongest call for the change must come from Muslim women. I don't see anything euphemistic about honor killing. It's a useful way to specify a certain kind of crime. Reader comments (8) on this item
