Europe as Ancient Target

There is a great potential to mistakenly apply to Russia (and its predecessor ethnic Slavic and possible Scythian influences) that same Common Era mentality of empire as the former Roman empire influences, yet still requiring a discerning intelligent assessment that an underlying desire of the ambitions of empire were, and are, undergirding the impassioned ambivalent attitudes towards the seeking of dominance over otherwise passive populations that are merely desiring to live undisturbed in the pastoral endeavors of husbandry and the like, but are targeted easily for those very impressions of being like sheep; and the enemies of peace are goaded by opposing those peaceful desires for the sake of those hateful ambitions.
Ethnic divisions, racial antipathies, if one so desires, are inflamed by unethical attitudes of hatred that have been fanned for centuries and as a base nature of humankind, the main Adversary of men and women's souls has been ever active in keeping those flames of antipathy and enmity as keen and hot as is required to keep humanity in constant conflict and those conflagrations are as antagonistically present now between Slavic and Roman attitudes as they have ever been, in the 21st century, the prior 20th century, and before from the Middle ages and the Kievan Rus conflicts, when Cossacks and their enemies overran the Steppes and kept the inner rages on constant edge.
While one might have a certain distrust between the 'East and the West', the observation made "It strengthens the persecution complex Putin needs to keep the Russian people on his side." Some do support that megalo-maniacal frame of reference, yet others fear worse the complete dissolution of their society, of normal life as it might have been were it not completely wrapped in a lost cause that no mere mortal can engage in without seeing the hopelessness that must be endured before any hope can be prayed for and potentially not being granted. It is of this frame of reference that Russia is seen as a lost cause looking for an escape; and seeing none. Europe is seen as a cause for this and is targeted for relief of that frustration.
