While the ascension of the Son of God, the Jewish Messiah was not mounted from the Temple site, the witness is that He did ascend from the Mount of Olives near Bethany, before the fire anointed apostles returned to Jerusalem to begin the centuries long mission of the Gospel. The return of the King of Israel is expected to follow the same path by which He enters the rebuilt Temple and assumes His monarchy of the world.
