You wrote an inspiring review of the 1981 book in 1981, and made an astute observation about Iran.
The President at the time was what I like to call, Apartheid Carter - and the worse USA President since the 2nd WW.

Now - 41 years later - the Religious Regime still blames "Little Satan" (Israel) and "Big Satan" (USA) for everything gone wrong in it. But at least during the 444 days (under Carter) the regime successfully installed its chosen Ayatollah whose successor is now in power - and the women of Iran now want his regime him Dead!

There was a time, way before Sharia Islam took over Iran when Iran (Persia) was a giant superpower. You are correct, Dr. Daniel Pipes, that to understand Iran we need to understand is great, rich, and important history.

I wonder which current country of 2 will progress first - Russia or Iran? My "money" is on Iran.
