Doomsday, According to American Liberal Jew, Thomas L. Friedman.Reader comment on item: The Education of Thomas Friedman Submitted by Robert (United States), Nov 16, 2022 at 11:39 Your recently cited our "Brother," Liberal Jewish American, Thomas L. Friedman of The New York Times. ... Friedman has been shocked by the re-election of Bibi with the most "extreme" Right Wing Israeli government in the works. It seems clear to me that Friedman hasn't learned anything really new about Israel in the Middle East. In particular, he seems to be totally unaware of the anti-Globalization movement known as Civilizationism. Incidentally, both Bahrain and Turkey (yes, under Edogan) have officially taken the stand that these countries intend to continue to work with Israel and its forthcoming new government under Bibi. In my view, Bibi represents the Left of Center, Liberal, Jew in the USA. And that cohort is "doomed" to assimilate. So, naturally, Friedman has not sympathy for the Jewish cohort that is Orthodox and Right of Center, that was allied with President Trump and produced the Abraham Accords with four Arab Muslim countries. And, incidentally, Trump is continuously being attacked as an "Antisemite" for urging Jews to get there act together on Israel before it is too late. It seems our Left is incapable of distinguishing Antisemitism from Philosemitism. Calling President Trump a Racist and Antisemitc is an ultimate absurdity, especially in the context of what his administration has accomplished for Israel. And it seems that Friedman has no inkling of what this implies regarding his misunderstanding of the Middle East.
