THE WORLD WITHOUT...Reader comment on item: More Reasons for Alarm at Ahmadinejad's Threats Submitted by DONVAN (United States), Dec 20, 2005 at 11:42 Dr pipes has cause to be "Gloomy" regarding the progression of the Mohammedian jihad. We see no movement toward a conference focused on a "World without Islam". Quite the contrary; the political left in the US and Europe seem to embrace the the Marxists notion that the thesis "Islam" is the antithesis of capitalism which will "Inevitably" morph into a synthesis of socialism, all to benefit of the working class. Marx, the "Mohammed" of economics, is still the darling of the socialist left. Old wine in new bottles, as the left replaces the Soviet Union model with political Islam model. After all, Islam with its "Jihad" is not so different than Marxs' "Proletariat revolution" and dictatorship of the clerics is strangely similar to the "Dictatorship of the proletariat" . If ,as Marx said, religion is the opiate of the people, a slight overdose is acceptable, or so the post Soviet Marxists believe. They are, so to speak, dead wrong. The fly in the utopian ointment is Islam, which the neoMarxists grossly underestimate. An academic theory of economics based on an industrial model of social conditions in England of the 1800's is no match for a system which allows enslavement of females, murder of non-subscribers, etc, etc, By the way, why not a conference on "A world without Islam", seems, as Hamlet said, a "Consumation devoutly to be wished" Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
