An Open Letter To Doug GavelReader comment on item: Harvard Debates Islam Submitted by Dale Evans (United States), Dec 26, 2005 at 17:58 Dale E. EvansValentine, Texas 12/26/2005 Doug Gavel Media Relations Manager John F. Kennedy School of Government Dear Mr. Gavel, In Respomse to your reply to Jennifer King as reported by Daniel Pipes in his Weblog #632, I put forth the following to broaden your knowledge so that you will never again have to resort to bla bla bla. To help you understand why Jennifer King sent the book please read the following. An Open Letter To The Islamic Community I have a few questions that I need you to answer. You say that you want to be friends and live in peace, but I am not a Muslim, so how can you be my friend when you are taught the following? [5.51] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. ------------------------------------------------ How can I trust you? I have no desire to become a Muslim and you are taught that you have a duty to kill me unless I convert. [9.5] So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. -------------------------------------------------- How can you be my friend when most of the Immunity ( Surah 9.1 -9.129 ) teaches you to hate me? You say that Islam is a religion of peace and I want to believe you, but when I read the Koran and Hadith and learn your beliefs I have my doubts. Mohammed also said, "Know that paradise is under the shades of the swords." Hadith vol. 4:73 Mohammed said: "No Muslim should be killed for killing a Kafir (infidel). " Hadith vol. 9:50 Mohammed said, "I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say, none has the right to be worshipped but Allah." Hadith vol. 4:196 Mohammed once was asked: what is the best deed for the Muslim next to believing in Allah and His Apostle? His answer was : "To participate in Jihad in Allah's cause" Al Bukhari vol. 1:25 ----------------------------------------- Will your religious leaders publicly state on TV and in the newspaper that these teachings and others like them are no longer valid and do not apply to modern Muslims. Will they state that American Law takes precedence over the Shari‘ah in all legal matters without exception and that American law will bind them? I can understand their silence when they are taught and believe the following Mohammed said, "Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him." Hadith vol. 9:57 And they know that someone will try to kill them. Please convince me that I am wrong in my belief that the American Muslim community supports all Muslims worldwide regardless of how radical their actions and beliefs are. Let me hear the American Mullah's and Imam's speak out against the 1998 Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders. Let the American Mosques be a loud voice calling for an end to Jihad and all of the death and suffering it brings. In the eyes of many, failure to condemn the Jihad and its supporters is the same as showing support for it and them. Please tell me that I am wrong and that you do not support them and their cause. I want to believe all that Muslim community espouses, but until they address my concerns with concrete statements and not rationalizations and rhetoric, I will find it very hard to do. Dale E.
