Two American embassiesReader comment on item: A Consulate in Jerusalem Submitted by deegee (Israel), Dec 31, 2005 at 04:59 In Israel it is 'common knowledge' that the US maintains two embassies. One is in Tel Aviv and the other, calling itself a consulate is in 'Arab' Jerusalem. The advice always given to Jewish Jerusalem residents to travel to Tel Aviv for consular services. The distinction is both hypocritical and pragmatic. So long as the US is not willing to come out 100% for Israel\, pretending to be an honest broker, it is hard to see another solution.
