Let's deal with IslamReader comment on item: Militant Islam's New Strongholds Submitted by Tom Pensyl (United States), Oct 23, 2002 at 14:35 Hello,Thanks to Daniel Pipes for another excellent article on the subject. First, I would like to challenge the notion that there is such a thing as moderate Islam. There is compromised Islam or subdued Islam or maybe corrupted, watered-down Islam. But if you want to see the true character of a religion, just go back to its origins. Study its beginnings and its founder. True Islam is very radical and very violent. The Koran is a progressive relevation, so all that peaceful stuff at the beginning is superceded by the violent parts at the end. Any other example you may find in the world is just a corrupted version of the original. The radical Islamists (the true believers) seek to revive the religion based on the fundamental teachings of the Koran. In a nutshell, it is their mission to bring the rest of the world into submission to their Sharia law, by violent force if necessary. They care not whether it be by words or bullets and bombs, but they intend to stamp out any country or religion that stands in their way. Do you think the non-Muslim people in the above mentioned countries see much difference between "moderate" Islam and "radical" Islam? If I were in their shoes, I would be seeing Islam (by any name) as a major threat to my existence. One thing I have noticed about Islam is the idea or doctrine that once a land is under Islamic domination, it is forever considered as belonging to Islam. Never mind that those places may have once belonged to Jews or Christians or Hindus. Have you noticed this? There are places in the USA with large concentrations of fundamentalist Muslims. Have you ever wondered what would happen if they became such a majority in a city so that they voted in Sharia Law to become the law of the town? What if a large number of them decided to move to one of our sparsely populated states and became a majority there? If they could succeed in taking over a city, why not a state? Would that land then become holy ground to the Muslims? Could it be reversed without starting a war? Would they then begin to persecute and drive out the infidels like they are doing in so many other places? I believe we can deal with Islam if we will be willing to do what is necessary for example, recognize that we have been contributing to our own problems by enriching Saudi Arabia, the keeper of the Islamic holy places. A major portion of our petro-dollars goes to exporting that radical Wahabi brand of Islam all over the world. Wealthy Saudis are also the main financial supporters of Al Qaeda. It's time to quit pretending that they are our allies and face reality... Take away their money supply. Americans need to be willing to bite the bullet and become energy self-sufficient OR go conquer the oilfields. We simply cannot afford to keep building up our enemies because of our oil addiction. Do a massive sweep to round up all the Muslims who are in this country illegally. Deport them. Take away citizenship from anyone who harbors and hides the illegals... If mosque leaders are preaching jihad, deport them. If someone like Mr. Farrakhan goes over to Iraq to speak treason against this country, don't let them back in. ( I could also think of a few Democratic senators that might apply to.)... Take out Iraq soon. Saddam Hussein is a symbol of defiance against us to the Arab world. Smash him to pieces. But first reign in on American oil companies that they will not get first consideration on Iraqi oil. Let the Russians and French go first. Maybe that will help us get their support in the UN. Once in control of Iraq, we will be in a better position to take on Syria and Iran. If the UN refuses to support us, ignore them. All I'm saying is we need to face reality, and be prepared to retaliate if necessary. We should not be confused about what is radical and what is moderate Islam... If any of this sounds too radical, just remember those planes full of innocent people flying into the twin towers. If you don't believe me, just wait until we attack Iraq and terrorist attacks start breaking out all over the USA. I hope I'm wrong, but I bet I'm not.
