Reply to HowlinReader comment on item: A Key Change to "The Pope and the Koran" Submitted by No Dhimmi (United States), Jan 31, 2006 at 22:07 Your comments about Catholicism are most misinformed.First, Constantine did not invent Catholicism. Catholicism was a term coined in the second century because of a growing number of hereseys. I believe it was St. Irenaus who instituted it's use so that Christians could know what was true christian teaching and what was heresey. Constantine declared Christianity to be the official religion of the State. Second, the Crusades began to protect pilgrimes going to the Holy Land from robbery, slavery, and even death at the hands of muslims. Also, it was to protect Christian holy sites that were threatened as well. The Crusades were are respond to muslim oppression. Third, your comparison of the two with the statement "....repress women, follow pagan rituals, worship idols, plunder [or have plundered] justifying it as "God's" will, punish and extricate the unfaithful, are prejudiced against non-members, claim to have "secret" knowledge above that of the rank and file, have tedious repetitive mantras, prayer beads, and are works oriented to eventually get to a higher after-life. Both use terror in unleashing hatred against humans who do not believe as they" is just prejudice. You obviously don't understand the practices of the Catholic Church. There is plenty of anti-Catholic literature circulating that reinforces your views. Fourth, I'm assuming that you are a Christian. If so, you would not be reading your scriptures if it was not for the Catholic Church. The Bible as we know it was compiled by the Catholic Church. The KJV that you read is not the original. It was re-written by a Catholic Augustinian monk named Martin Luther who decided he knew what was truly scriptural. If you don't believe, compare the number of books in the Catholic Bible and the Protestant Bible. You will find six chapters missing in the Old Testament and two in the New Testament. Let me ask you a question, how do you get a book that you probably consider to be the Word of God and perfect in what is written from a Church that you refer to as the "Whore of Babylon" and the "Seat of Satan?"
