As you indicate many do not want to use the term Islamic terrorist because of their wishes to be sensitive..
I wish they were equally sensitive to actions of Israel. They treat the Israelis differently. I wonder if their is some anti-Semitism here. Or could it be that their lives may be in danger if they offend the terrorists. but not so if they offend the Israelis.
