Effort to remove Abu Sway at first arrivalReader comment on item: More Fulbrights for Islamists Submitted by Ira Born (United States), Apr 24, 2006 at 10:41 I had told the dean of FAU Honors College ( Abu Sway's employer) that Sway was an active member of Hamas. The dean responded that he wasn't concerned because Sway had been vetted by both the Fulbright Board and the State Department. I did my best to be diplomatic and not to laugh. Shortly after, I attended a public speech at a local theater by Abu Sway in which he belabored the travails of the Palestinians under Israeli "occupation". From the reaction of the audience (including many Jews ), his remarks were not too well received. In addition to the dean's remarks, Sway was protected under the umbrella of "academic freedom" by Jewish professors. Education on campuses is sorely needed!
