Octavio, why do they hate us?

Just to chime in with my two cents here. I am also American, so I cannot speak for the Brits. However, I will say this: if you are going by the press, you might not be getting the whole story about how the average person on the street feels. Do you speak to any actual British people?

In the US right now, there is a real disconnect between the press and the average American, if such an animal exists! For example, if you were to read artices or editorials in some of the major American newspapers on, say, the subject of illegal immigration, and then go out into mainstreet USA and pick 25 random people to get their opinions, you'd wonder if the media lived in the same country with those people. Because the media represents a whole different viewpoint than that of the average working American.

It is my opinion that the MSM today is not really interested in getting at the truth, wherever that truth may lead them, but in advancing their particular ideology. This is not a good thing in a society where the press is given special privileges and we depend on them to kind of be the "watch dog" over government. I think most fair minded and clear thinking people are realizing this and are not basing so much of their opinions now on what they read or hear in the MSM, but are gathering information from a variety of sources.

For example, I have found the European media to be extremely anti-American. However, I speak to many Europeans who like America and Americans (even though they might not always agree with all of our policies--heck I DON'T AGREE WITH ALL OUR POLICIES!!). But, if I had no contact with any Europeans and only went by their media, I'd be wishing for their imminent demise!! lol
