Reader comment on item: "Who Wants Khaled Abou el Fadl Dead?"

Submitted by Chris B (United States), Aug 31, 2006 at 11:50

Khaled Abou el Fadl claims that in April 2006, "a bullet whizzed past his ear and lodged in a book as he was standing near his living room bookshelf in front of his open front door."

Really? A bullet. And it lodged in a book? Was the book a novel? Because fiction is the only term that applies to his statement.

He says a bullet was fired through his open front door. But he didn't hear the shot fired? Apparently no one else heard it either. Meanwhile, anyone with experience handling weapons knows a book is unlikely to stop a real bullet, especially if the bullet enters through the spine and simply parts the pages as it travels toward the wall, through which it would pass if were a cartridge with some stopping power.
