Why Egyptians hate usReader comment on item: Egypt's Democratic Movement vs. Israel Submitted by Roger McKinney (United States), Sep 28, 2006 at 17:55 "Mubarak is a more reliable ally vis-à-vis Israel than his democratic opposition." I have read the English version of Al-Ahram for the past five years and have found it crammed full of anti-American and anti-Israeli propaganda. The worst is directed against Israel. This is a state-owned newspaper and it never carries even one sentence favorable to the US or Israel, while accusing both of unbelievable attrocities. Mubarak is so plainly two-faced that he has even shocked some Arabs. One writer in Sharq AlAwsat last year laughed at the US for being so gullible. He was amazed that the US couldn't see the game Mubarak plays, in which he pretends to be pro-American in order to keep the $3 billion annually in aid flowing while using his state-owned media to stir up hatred of the US and Israel and win favor with the rest of the Muslim world.
