Where is a MUslim who has actually opened a koran and read it?Reader comment on item: What Are Islamic Schools Teaching? Submitted by julie (United States), Oct 17, 2006 at 10:04 Islam is popularly translated as "Peace." It is instead correctly translated as "submission." In Islam, believers seek to be one with Allah through SUBMISSION. Allah is the MASTER, and the Muslim is his SLAVE. You, "Debby", which I do not believe is your real name...you sound more like a man with not such good English....but you might be interested in some of the real facts about Muhammad, which few Muslims know, and the ones who do will never admit to us infidels is the truith...even when we know it ourselves! Imagine the entire world being seen under a God who is like the Bedouin Master, rich and powerful, with a large tribe of women and children, and a huge number of slaves. Just about any endeavor was possible…. protection of the Bedouin could be had through the army of slaves he retained. Work was carried out by these slaves, which made life more comfortable for the Master. The number of his tribe, and the number of his slaves determined the Master's power. With this cultural view, Muhammad saw his God. The perfect Being, therefore, would naturally desire the entire world to be His slaves. This Master-slave relationship is a deep thread in Islam, which is woven throughout the Qur'an. In Judeo-Christian books we read that the world fell into slavery all right, but slavery to SIN. It is OUT of this slavery that God is calling mankind, and it is FREEDOM, which God offers to all. QUESTION: We wonder why Muslims seem to fear our freedoms in the West. Why they do not overthrow their taskmasters, their abusers, and their control-freak leaders? Because they will be killed themselves. AT LEAST OUR GUYS ARE WILLING TO GIVE THEIR LIVES TO GIVE US A FREE COUNTRY. We know that to have freedom of speech, we must listen to others' crazy ideas at times. To have freedom to worship, we must tolerate others' crazy idolatries at times. To have freedom to express ourselves and to love freely, we must cherish individual differences, not crush them. However, for a Muslim, freedom will only truly exist when the entire world submits itself to Allah. Everyone will be the SAME…worship the SAME God, and see everything the SAME way. The Psychological structure of modern society is in total resemblance of Muhammad' time In Muhammad's time, the only social structure was the tribe. The family. It was into a family that an individual was born, and it was within this family he would die. He would have social security from the cradle to the grave…. He would marry within the extended tribe, in fact. All of his wealth remained within the tribe. Indeed, all of his individual purpose was to further enrich the tribe, with children, with his labor, and with his wisdom in old age. In the Judeo-Christian world, this has disintegrated with the Industrial Revolution, rapid spread of individualism, the pursuit of knowledge, access to wealth outside the family, and with secularism. Hence, the need for governments to provide for the elderly, for children born out of wedlock, for single women who head families, etc. Western Governments have taken on more and more of the role of the family, in education, jobs, and in taking our wealth (taxes) as a result. We have given over much of our original fabric of the family to our governments. The Muslim looks at this impersonal, weird governmental system as something undesirable and as direct result of Judeo-Christian values and beliefs. The Muslim family unit is never to be broken. Girls are to remain virgins so as NOT to tarnish the reputation of the family. If she does, the honor killing should take place, by her very brothers and father. One's very identity comes from his family. He cannot imagine life outside of his family. He or she would DIE if disowned by the family…. " this was also the same values of the Western hemisphere prior to industrial revolution and even to some recent history in our country" This has good, but also some bad results. We can see that a woman, who is abused by her husband, or divorced by her husband, has no welfare system to fall back on other than her family. Muslims often feel it is the woman's own fault if she were divorced…so some are left homeless, begging in the streets, even some with children. Few pity them, or even their helpless children. Many blame them. If the woman had been good, the husband would never have divorced her. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
