Famous Victory?Reader comment on item: After Saddam? Remaking the Mideast Submitted by Graham Rael-Brook (United States), Feb 11, 2003 at 09:02 IF A 'FAMOUS' VICTORY REFERRED TO IN YOUR ARTICLE WERE TO BE THE PANACEA FOR MUSLIM EXTREMISTS TO SEE THE LIGHT, WHY DID THE REALLY FAMOUS VICTORIES OF THE TINY ISRAEL AGAINST WHAT HAS TO HAVE BEEN SEEN AS OVERWHELMING ODDS BRING NOTHING MORE THAN AN UNEASY PEACE WITH EGYPT AND JORDAN?THE CONTINUED LACK OF CO-OPERATION AND HATRED OF ISRAEL FROM THESE 'MODERATE' STATES IS LIKELY TO BE EXTENDED TO USA AND HER ALLIES BY MUSLIM ARAB STATES THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND AMONG MANY ARAB MUSLIMS SCATTERED WORLDWIDE. WHEN ONE DAY THE OVERWHELMING POWER IS IN THE HANDS OF THESE FOLKS WITH BURGEONING POPULATION INCREASE, WE SHOULDN"T EXPECT THEM TO TURN TO THE UN AND USE DIPLOMATIC MEANS FOR MONTHS BEFORE STRIKING AT ISRAEL AND WESTERN CIVILIZATION WHICH IS ANATHEMA TO THEM. HAD ARAB MONEY, LIVES AND EFFORT WASTED IN THEIR ATTEMPT TO DESTROY ISRAEL AND HARM THE US BEEN USED TO RESETTLE AND DEVELOP THE ARABS REMAINING AT WAR WITH ISRAEL AFTER THE TWO PEACE TREATIES, THEY WOULD NOT BE FIGHTING FOR RECOGNITION AS A STATE BUT WOULD HAVE RISEN TO BE A WEALTHY DE FACTO STATE THE ENVY OF ALL ISLAM.
