Writing because you want to share your convictions

Reader comment on item: Writing [as a Career]

Dear Daniel,

I have read many of your brief essays over the past few years, and I have always found them to be thought-provoking. While I'm sure you are motivated to write because of the reasons you mentioned in your article, I have a hunch that you also write because you have clear convictions which you wish to share with the rest of us, Jews and especially non-Jews, thereby enabling us to check our facts and our reconsider our values (not just Israel but freedom of speech, reason versus irrationality, etc.).

Thank you for having the courage of your convictions to say what has to be said, even though inevitably each of your speeches or essays will rouse the ire of an increasing number of detractors in the Islamist camp here and abroad.

Rabbi Edgar Weinsberg, Ed.D. (retired Conservative Rabbi, Sarasota, FL)
