Buchanan's Israel BashingReader comment on item: Next Steps in Iraq Submitted by Victor Sharpe (United States), Apr 25, 2003 at 20:21 Dear Daniel,As a supporter of yours I was pleased to read the transcript of the recent interview you gave to Buchanan and Pressman. You did a fine job in answering their questions about the dangers of Iraq sliding into yet another Islamic theocracy, a la Iran. You also ably clarified to them your view that it is up to Moslems themselves to decide what direction their religion may take. My only caveat to the interview was that Buchanan was allowed to slip in yet another example of his inveterate Israel bashing when he characterized Prime Minister Sharon as resisting peace because of his justified reservations about the road map. The Prime Minister yearns for a true and lasting peace, not the charade envisioned by the Quartet. I realize there are always time constraints in discussions of this nature, but it would have been a timely opportunity to counter Buchanan's relentless maligning of Israel.
