Reader comment on item: Middle East Debate: Should Washington Actively Promote an Israeli-Palestinian Peace Settlement?

Submitted by Arlinda DeAngelis (United States), May 11, 2003 at 14:08

Again Dr. Pipes' voice is raised in defense of our liberal democratic ally, the nation of Israel.

The raison d'etre for the Palestinian organization is death, terrorism and the annihilation of Israel. Entering into an agreement with such an organization is to burden Israel with the responsibilities that such an agreement would entail. The so called Palestinian "authority" funds, arms and assists in the planning of attacks carried out by Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Aqsa through the funds and arms provided by the surrounding Arab nations.

The Palestinians became a weapon of the theocratic imperial Islam nations to wage more than a half century of war against Israel. Arab support of this heinous organization also became a method to keep the Palestinians out of Jordan and the rest of the Arab countries. Creating a legal base from which these terrorists can carry out their crimes is insane and in opposition to Bush's policy on terrorism.

Arrafat and the Palestinian "authority" should be tried for war crimes not asked to sign a worthless peace agreement or did we make an exception for the Palestinian NGO?
