Reader comment on item: The Kuwaiti Exception

Submitted by A Kuwaiti (Kuwait), May 5, 2007 at 13:02

For the Kuwaitis, the prospect of everlasting wealth seems to depress the drive for creativity and the motivation for any creative contribution.

What troubles me as a Kuwaiti is that the above description applies to the majority of the Kuwaiti herd (sorry!), and the few wandering ambitious people have voices that repeatedly fall on deaf ears, saying "Whaaaa....? You actually want to sweat, work hard and create something?? How unfashionable." I agree with Pipes on the description of "human comedy". It's just that this comic play has lasted far far far too long, monotonously without a climax, no drama (save the quick occupation by the northern neighbor).

In unfortunate words: despite individual efforts at inspiration, this is a pretty BLAH place. This is a Kuwaiti speaking--someone who had the fortunate or unfortunate chance to live in the West and then come back here. Thinking of leaving this place I should call home!
