Be honest, Mr. Nawash!Reader comment on item: Assessing Kamal Nawash Submitted by nick4693 (Japan), Jun 8, 2007 at 20:18 This is an open communication to Mr. Kamal Nawash, founder of the Free Muslims Coalition. Mr. Nawash, on January 21, 2007, I submitted to the FMC forum a request asking you to "please explain the following Koran verses to me." The forum carried my message, but deliberately omitted to print the list of Koranic verses in question. Most of the Koranic verses I quoted advocate murdering all infidels (non-Muslims). Others demand beheading, maiming, mutilation, etc., as well as many other acts of terrorism. These are not my words, Mr. Nawash; they are plainly written in the Koran for all to see. They were written approximately 1,300 years ago, but to a Muslim they are as valid today as when they were recorded. This is the faith which you call your "beloved religion." Today, June 7, 2007, I received a message through Dr. Daniel Pipes' website from someone named Uval, who purported to be replying to an earlier blog of mine. Uval's reply was simply an article by you entitled American Muslims, Israel and Suicide Bombings, and did not come even close to addressing my request to you for answers about those Koranic verses. Thus, I ask you once again to please explain those Koranic verses to me. Though I am an unbeliever, most people, no matter what their faith, would relish the opportunity to proselytize, but Uval's answer can only be described as obfuscation. You are an admitted Muslim, Mr. Nawash, and as such you must follow every single tenet contained in the Koran. If you do not, then you are denigrating the Koran, which amounts to apostasy, and the penalty for apostasy, according to the Koran, is death. Mr. Nawash, you cannot pick and choose. Muslims cannot question the contents of the Koran. "Studying" the Koran simply means learning its verses by rote. Islam is either right or it is wrong! There is no middle ground. And a Muslim is a Muslim from the cradle to the grave, which means Muslims are like mindless puppets, manipulated by a puppeteer. It seems so strange to me that people would deliberately and willingly place themselves in a lifetime state of servitude to the words of a self-proclaimed prophet whose evil antecedents have been amply and accurately recorded. The historicity of Mohammed cannot be denied. I apologize for placing you in the hot seat, Mr. Nawash, but I would deeply appreciate a reply that adequately satisfies my desire to learn more about your religion from your own perspective, especially being an Islamic leader.
