The proposal for the 28th amendment is a great idea because even a public debate about the real nature of Islam would be very useful. Brzeznski wrote a book about communism called "The God that Failed." His point was that communism was a secular religion. So was/is fascism and so is Islam. Islam's fusion of church and state reduces it to a political ideology that has created dysfunctional social systems ill-equipped for modernity.

The readers should recall that the first person to explicitly argue for separation of church and state was a fellow who said to "render unto Caesar those things that are Caesar's, and unto God those things that are God's." This was of course Jesus who made this point and it should be a cautionary tale because Western culture needs to rediscover is spiritual Judeo-Christian heritage but not turn to the Christian Mullahs like James Dobson and ram a fundamentalist Christian version of Sharia down our throat. In a strange sense, many right wing Christians would be more philosophically consistent if they converted to Islam because church and state could then be fused. Pretty ironic.

But at this juncture, the threat posed by folks like James Dobson and their belief in a 6,000 year old earth is but a momentary issue compared to the dark and persistent threat of Islamicism to the future of humanity.
