what do you think?Reader comment on item: Documentary Exposes Radical Muslim Rhetoric Submitted by syed mohammad ali (India), Jun 23, 2007 at 14:35 what do you think ...those who believe in domestic violence truly represents islam, just read that part islam and domestic violence .......the truth is none of so called islamic country truly islamic ...they just have shariah law on criminals otherwise nothing look at the saudi govt. do you think they are islamic ..those people ...who are capitalist from head to toe ?forget the basic message of islam which is all about social justice ...anyway they cant have it through capitalism....or democrazy...Islam condemns domestic violence. Once a number of women came to the prophet, on whom be peace, to complain that their husbands had beaten them. The prophet announced that men who beat their wives are not good men. The prophet also said, "Do not beat the female servants of Allah." Allah knows that life is not always a bowl of cherries. And so He stipulates that a man must be kind to his wife even if he happens to dislike her (Qur'an 4-19). Allah offers a good reason as to why men should not dislike their wives. Allah says that He has placed much good in women (Qur'an 4:19). In the following verse of the Qur'an, Allah warns men that if they retain their wives in marriage it should not be to take advantage of them. The verse reads: "Retain them in kindness or release them in kindness. But do not retain them to their hurt so that you transgress (the limits). If anyone does that he wrongs his own soul. Do not take God's instructions as a jest" (Qur'an 2:231). 1. WAS FEMALE CIRCUMCISION INTRODUCED BY ISLAM?While the exact origin of female circumcision is not known, "it preceded Christianity and Islam." [1] The most radical form of female circumcision (infibulation) is known as the Pharaonic Procedure. This may signify that it may have been practiced long before the rise of Islam, Christianity and possibly Judaism. It is not clear, however, whether this practice originated in Egypt or in some other African countries then spread to Egypt. [2] It is common knowledge that in some countries like Egypt, female circumcision has been practiced by both Muslims and Christians. [3] In the meantime, this practice is not known in most Muslim countries including Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. [4] This leads to the conclusion that female circumcision is connected with cultural practices rather than with Islam itself as a world religion. No mention of female circumcision is to be found in the Qur'an either directly or indirectly. There is no known Hadeeth which requires female circumcision. Some argued, however, that one Hadeeth, while not requiring female circumcision, appears to accept it: "Circumcision is a commedable act for men (Sunnah) and is an honorable thing for women (Makromah)." [5] ..ok i think i make it clear for you that and about choosing the life partner .,..in islam women can choose life partner for herself ..definately a muslim men ...i conclude ..here later Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
