Taking the Gloves Off!

Reader comment on item: [Lee Harris on Why the U.S. is] Discarding War's Rules

Submitted by Terrall (United States), Jul 23, 2003 at 06:31

I believe what Harris has to say has merit. Yes, if the USA takes the gloves off and does damage to Islamist fanatics, it would seem tyrannical, and over bearing, but when is it OK to become politically incorrect? Is Israel expected to keep receiving these terror attacks from the Palestinians, without being allowed to defend themselves. Are they not to pay back the Palestinians, in-kind, for these attacks?
You see, Israel, and The USA, for all the bad press they received lately, have taken the high road, and not lowered themselves to the murderous, babaric level terrorists use. Terrorists attack innocent men, women, and children, without remorse. Conversely, Israel and the USA only attack military targets, and get a bloody nose in the media if a "civilian" gets injured or killed in the retaliatory strike.
Sometimes you have to take on the bully, and fight dirty to get him to stop. If the bully kicks you below the belt, you better be ready to kick him there harder.
The problem with Palestinians is that they are educated in school from an early age that all of Israel belongs to them, and the "Zionist Oppressors" must be overthrown at any and all cost to restore the great Palestinian Nation. With this early brainwashing, is it any wonder that young people sign up in droves to be suicide bombers? The suicide bomber girl with a degree and a fiancee'; who would have suspected someone with so much going for her would take her own life just to murder a few Israelis. If it sounds insane to you, congratulations. You are officially part of civilized society, but that does not protect you from terror.
