Islamic ills: blame the West?

Reader comment on item: The Blame Game

Submitted by Jaisingh Thakur (India), Jul 12, 2007 at 00:40

It is an all too common ploy of the Islamists to blame all their ills on the U.S.A. and the West. This can be attributed to the fact that the Muslims, brain-washed by their mullahs in their madrassas since a very young age, are misled into believing that they are superior to people belonging to other religious faiths, and that the only alternative model to the present-day benevolent capitalism of the West is the one provided by Islam. These high pretensions may have been blown to pieces by the technological superiority of the West a couple of centuries ago, but the intelluctuals inhabiting the Muslim world find it too difficult to come to terms with the same. At the root of all this carping against the West lies this feeling of jealousy and malice which they harbour towards the superior West.
