legitimate reading of the legitimate text vs. Stuck in the SixtiesReader comment on item: Interview with Dr. Daniel Pipes Submitted by jennifer solis (United States), Oct 30, 2007 at 15:38 It is refreshing to hear Daniel Pipes receive the due respect he deserves. He is indeed a "harbinger of a storm comming", and although I never would have imagined Dr. Pipes compared to a small bird, the "storm petrel" analogy certainly fits. There's even a slight physical resemblance, with regards to plumage - www.orientalbirdimages.org/search.php?action=... We are indeed fortunate to have Daniel Pipes who can simplify what others would complicate. Example, in the preceeding interview, he states that Islamism did not "high-jack" Islam; quote, "It is based on a legitimate reading of the legitimate text." Interesting that Dr. Pipes also comments that the irrational hatred for America in today's Universities started in the 1960's. I agree, and they've never recovered. Fortunately for his audience, Daniel Pipes emerged from them, during the 60's, un-scathed. I imagine he did quite alot of legitimate reading of legitimate text. Too bad too many in today's Universities aren't (including the professors). I guess it's easier to stay "stuck in the 60's". Maybe when the "storm coming" bites them in the "but", they will recall the warning of the storm petrel.
