Terrorists' gripe?Reader comment on item: Fulbright's Terrorist Tie Submitted by A. Lee Stewart (United States), Oct 20, 2003 at 14:47 DP,Since I trust only you on matters Islamist. Your knowledge, your judgement and your strategic skills, and not least, your willingness to put yourself at risk for the truth --would you tell me if I have it right --that US support for the Saudi 'royal' family's corrupt repressive Wahabbi sect is the reason we have raised the ire of militant terrorist Muslims? I heard a guest on Batchelor's WABC late night radio last week insist very knowingly that the US is on the wrong side of a problem within the Muslim world and have read somewhere that there are two strains of Islam at war with each other right now. Best wishes --A. Lee Stewart Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Daniel Pipes replies: Working with the Saudis has both raised the ire of some Islamists (like bin Laden) and also helped the Saudis fund their own brand of Islamists. So, we lose coming and going.DP << Previous Comment Next Comment >> Reader comments (17) on this item
