An alternative plan?

Good article once again Daniell. It's great to know that we finally have leadership in Washington that has the foresight that you've had all these years that has turned your theories into policy.

If it fails because it turns out that the Arab masses really are the extremists that prompted U.S. policy makers in the past to prop up repressive dictators to keep them suppressed, then at least our intentions were noble, if not too idealistic.

But what would our policy corrections be then? For instance: if we lose the hearts and minds of the people in the Sunni triangle of Iraq, would WWII style air raids against cities like Fallujah and Tikrit (wipe 'em off the map and don't bother to rebuild them) be appropriate? This would show the people that violent opposition to America is useless and they had better start cooperating or we'll keep doing it to them, city by city until they crack.

Also wouldn't it be the height of stupidity for us not to have permanent army and air force bases scattered around Iraq that can be easily defended and resupplied to make sure the Iraqis keep their noses clean and to threaten Syria and Iran with invasion unless they shape up and fly right? Our military is at a great strategic advantage where we are right now!
