That El Fadl may have guards does not render him exempt from being an extremist. Louis Farrakhan has guards, too.

That El Fadl may converse knowledgeably about law and present a sociable persona does not mean he is not an extremist.

That El Fadl keeps company with and contributes to extremist organizations and front groups tends to prove him to be extremist, or an exceedingly dense "useful idiot" as Willi Munzenberg used to say.

When will people stop making social-beauty contests the benchmark of their political discernment?
