Wrongly directed criticismReader comment on item: SaveIsraelsChildren.com Submitted by Ron Thompson (United States), Apr 15, 2008 at 10:59 It is dreadful that parents in S'derot are considering evacuating their children from the town as a war zone. But I would place the criticism elsewhere than on the Olmert government. I would first of all hold responsible all those who support Israel, but lack the political will or strategic foresight to oppose and reject the delusional drive to create a Palestinian State - no matter how clear the rejectionists and fanatics make it that they will not accept Israel, and will not allow anybody else to do so. Consider the latest raid by Palestinians on the fuel depot that ..... supplies their own people. There is a lunatic logic to this - create more pain for the Palestinian people, (also) hostages to Hamas and Arab rejectionism, and world opinion will, of course, blame Israel and the United States. Why are we so pathologically obtuse that we continue to put up this, or worse, increase the pressure on Israel for some sort of dangerous compromise? Whatever the shortcomings of the Ohmert government, how does the supporters of Israel tolerating such Palestinian behavior as this determination to increase the suffering of their own people, conceivably help the cause of peace? I would think the best thing for those S'derot parents in the long run, and all Israelis and Jews and Israeli supporters anywhere ,would be to demand an end to being held hostages to Palestinian, Arab and Iranian violence and threats of annihilation. Let us take back the initiative we foolishly leave in the hands of Israel's deadliest enemies and say, at the very minimum, there may NEVER be a Palestinian State, due to the utter absence of any convincing will to peace. Now, in light of that change of policy, what do we do next? Ron Thompson Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
