Nice surpriseReader comment on item: My Disrupted Talk at UC-Berkeley Submitted by jennifer solis (United States), May 1, 2008 at 19:32 Wow. You could knock me over with a feather. It is very encouraging to see the level of respect shown towards Dr. Pipes and his fellow speakers, and towards the event itself. Increased security or no (when was the last time increased security had a negative impact on dissent, especially in San Francisco), hopefully this is a sign of a larger trend, a trend towards actual thought, contemplation, comprehension and informed objective knowledge on the part of students and the general public. Does the lack of protesters reflect this? Is this a form of "raising a white flag" on their part? Could it be that some rational thought is beginning to form? If objectivity and desire for accuracy is responsible, where it came from and what would have caused it is puzzling - in UC Berkely, of all places - however, assuming this increasing desire exists, it could and would not be answered nor fullfilled without great minds like Daniel Pipes. Would it indeed have occured in the first place? Light at the end of the tunnel? If there is, it was lit by Daniel Pipes.
