MeK; Don't worryReader comment on item: [Mujahedeen-e Khalq:] A Terrorist U.S. Ally? Submitted by A Soldier (United States), Jan 25, 2004 at 10:00 As as soldier stationed at Camp Ashraf, the largest, and now only, camp actually populated by the MeK and it's National Liberation Army... let me assure you: The teeth have been pulled. We took away their tanks. We took away 99.99% of their arms. (Some buildings on their compound have never been thoroughly searched.) Armed resistance against us would be futile. As a soldier, I can understand the tempation to use the MeK tactically. But policy has been otherwise, and perhaps it is for the best. The weapons vehicles we took have been dsitributed to the new emerging Iraqi Army. Yes, we share the same goal. The overthrow of the clerical regime in Iran. What makes a terrorist is not the goal. It's the means. Just as the vigilanti, who hunts down a kills a criminal, is a criminal... so is the anti-terrorist group that uses terrorist tactics, a group of terrorists. Those of us with hearts may understand both cases' motivatation... but lawful definitions must be applied without passion. Change from Iran will come. From within. Eventually. Perhaps reformed members of the MeK can someday return, and put their talents in engineering, computer science and other skills, aquired along their almost cult-like path of singlemindedness devotion, for the good of a new Iran.
