Dear Tirdad: It is obvious that you have strong patriotic feelings about the United States, which I do appreciate. It is also obvious that to you English is a second language, which leads me to conclude that you have moved here from another land. Perhaps you do not understand the political landscape here in America as well as I do.

You see, I am sixty years old, born and raised in the United States, and have lived here all my life and I have an intimate understanding of how this country works politicatlly. So le me tell you that the reality is that Senator Obama's tax plan will provide no increase in taxes on working class people. It will raise taxes to a reasonable degree upon the wealthiest Americans who can afford to pay more. For the past eight years we have seen a transfer of wealth, a "redistribution" as McCain calls it, here in America with the wealth being redistributed 'upward' from working class people to the rich in the form of upper class tax breaks. This has caused a budget deficit that will eventually be paid by working class people, just as our tax dollars recently bailed out affluent bankers on Wall Street. The Republican Party DOES NOT represent the interests of working class Americans very well and it never has. This is something that is understood by most Americans, especially after the last eight years.

As for the comment you say Obama made about Iran being a small country, well, I haven't heard it but I'm sure he's aware of the actual size of Iran. I'd rather have him engaged in talks with Ahmadinajad than to launch another military invasion. Many Iranians are actually very pro-American and pro-West and are sick and tired of the oppression of the mullahs. I'd prefer to see an old-fashioned political coup orchestrated by our Central Intelligence Agency in which a ruler similar to Shah Mohammad Pahlavi be installed in the government there. It would benefit all of us without the bloodshed of warfare.

As for Hugo Chavez, I never mentioned him in any previous posts. I do perceive him as being a harmless little troll who makes me laugh. If he becomes too arrogant, though, he may realistically face what is known as "the Noriega treatment" and end up in a U.S. federal prison. Noriega currently resides in a medium security prison in Florida and probably wishes he had shut up when he had the chance.

Remember, Tirdad, it's not too late for you to change your vote. But whether you do or not, Obama is likely to be our next president.
