Moderate Muslims March in PhoenixReader comment on item: Moderate Muslims March in Phoenix Submitted by Chris Chrisman (United States), May 1, 2004 at 12:29 Bravo. We need to listen to the moderate Muslims, and we need to give publicity to their views. This is needed to drown out the radical views coming from the Wahhabi-influenced clerics in the United States. If it is true that the Wahhabis control 80% of the mosques in the U.S., non-Muslims must help the moderate voices be heard. The book "The Age of Sacred Terror" by Daniel Benjamin and Steven Simon make this point in their Afterword: "Washington will have to find creative ways to channel financial support to moderate clerics and mosques without discrediting the voices we want to amplify. This may mean identifying constructive sermons by eloquent preachers and disseminating them via cassette and the internet to increase their audience." Your article is doing just that.
