Foreign workers in a foreign landReader comment on item: Dubai's Dramatic Drop Submitted by Richard B. (Canada), Feb 26, 2009 at 15:23 Had the chance to read a stratfor article on the massive immigrant workers in the UAE. The racist attitudes Muslim Arabs have towards these workers are appalling. Never mind too that many of these workers are Muslims themselves who get treated like dogs on their arrival. It's a dirty little secret that's coming out in the open. These workers - who no doubt built Burj Dubai and the many air-conditioned malls that the rich emirati love to frequent - are second-class citizens seen as disposable humanity by their Arab employers. Forget about the equality of law before the courts! I for one am glad to see the WTA stand up to the chauvinist and anti-Semitic attitudes of the organizers. To disinvite or disenfranchise sports celebrities or authors based on unpleasant realities shows that the emporer truly has no clothes.
