Left/Right/Islamist alliances

Reader comment on item: Bibliography – My Writings on Left, Right, and Islamists

Submitted by Fay Voshell (United States), May 6, 2009 at 19:43

At the heart of hard left and right alliances with radical Islamist organizations and nations lies one chief factor common to both:

All ideologues, religious or political, admire and advocate strict, enforced central planning which encompasses all of human behavior.

The extreme religious legalism of Islamists, who desire conformance to strict sharia law, is very similar to the political far right/left's desire to control human choice and human behavior through statist planning.

In both cases rigid laws are constructed by the power of the state, theocratic or political, in order to to create a behavioral template suitable for all humankind.
