See the Sunnah of the Prophet!

Dear Kamran,

Prophet Mohammed might not have delivered what is today perceived as hate speech. But, for all the Muslims all His actions also binding models. Starting with battle of Badr until the conquest of Macca, wasn't there a trail of bloodshed? How was massacre of Banu Khuraiza set up? By allowing them to choose an arbitrator who ordered their massacre!? How about ordering the killing of the poetess who had written mocking lyrics about the Prophet?

After the conquest of Macca, the Prophet ensured that the Pagan Arabs destroyed the idols they had been worshipping with their own hands! I think, these actions have left behind far stronger message than any hate speech. Therein lies the cause of all the subsequent conquests, murder, plunder, rapine for the next thirteen hundred years, and today's Jihad.

In short, the actions of Prophet Mohammed some fourteen hundred years back, cannot for all time to come, be the guiding light for the lives of Muslims in today's complex world. Time has come for Muslims to give up the notion that everything said and done by the Prophet, and every letter of Koran is immutable. Muslims have to realise that change is the only permanent feature of this world. It is high time that Muslims decide to critically and clinically examine their scripture and Sunnah and shun what is violent, hateful, outdated and unsuitable for the present age and society. Give up Sharia in favour of modern laws. Such changes alone can help Muslims march with modern society.
